Girls Forum SAAM 2024

In April, to mark Sexual Assault Awareness Month, MGSH organized an event that brought together child domestic workers, survivors of sexual violence, and girls who are at risk of being exploited. This event provided a platform to raise awareness and show support for survivors.

This event saw the participation of the Nairobi County Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Coordinator, the Kamukunji Children Officers, and Assistant County Commissioners. Representatives from different organizations,  including the Centre for Rights Education and Awareness (CREAW), Bashosho Talents CBO, Doctors Without Borders, Kara Girls, Talia Agler Girls Shelter, and Shining Hope for Communities, came together to advocate against sexual violence and child domestic labor.

This forum highlighted the need for the multisectoral team to work together to protect vulnerable girls and pushed for changes in the system to keep children safe from exploitation. Through speeches and discussions the unity between survivors, advocates, and community leaders shined a light on the urgent need to address sexual violence against children that continues to threathen their future.
