May 28th is Menstrual Hygiene Day. With the theme for the year 2022 being “Making Menstruation a Normal Fact of Life, we had a session in Viwandani in which the 60 girls engaged in discussions around menstrual health and promoting good hygiene practices.

The discussions focused on educating the girls on reproductive health and the importance of maintaining proper menstrual hygiene. Having interactive sessions the girls learned about various aspects of menstrual health, including how to manage menstruation effectively and how to address common misconceptions and stigmas associated with it. It was not only informative but also enjoyable, with the girls participating in activities that encouraged open dialogue and shared experiences. To ensure that each girl had the necessary resources to manage their menstrual health comfortably, we provided every participant with a menstrual care package. These packages included essential items and educational materials to support their menstrual hygiene needs.

The open dialogues focused on making menstruation a more accepted and less stigmatized part of life, helping the girls feel more confident and prepared as they navigate their menstrual health.
